SOCKMAS 2024 // Winter Magic

Sockmas is an easygoing sock make-along with a goal of making a pair of wintry socks to wear during the season.

We’ll officially begin the day after American Thanksgiving (Friday, November 29th) and aim to finish a few days before Christmas (December 20th).

To keep with the gentle and enjoyable theme, there are no official rules or prizes. Just make socks that you love!

  • Sparkling colorwork paired with easy-going texture make these socks a fun treat for a gray winter’s day. The Winter Magic Socks are a collaboration with Coven Collective for Sockmas 2024.

    This pattern DOES NOT COME WITH HEEL INSTRUCTIONS. It is designed to work with any style of heel. The Fish Lips Kiss Heel (or similar short row heel),an afterthought heel, or a heel flap and gusset can be used. If you have a few pairs of socks under your belt, you’ll have no trouble subbing in your favorite heel!

    Purchase of this pattern includes TWO PDFs. One with cuff down instructions and another with toe up instructions. Two patterns in one!

  • | YARN |
    Color Options: Use a main color and two 20-gram minis- like the Winter Magic Socks set from Coven Collective. Use scraps or leftover yarns for the colorwork. Use two colors for a striking contrast sock.

    • 100 grams {463 yards} of fingering weight in for the main color.

    • 20 grams each {92 yards} of fingering weight in 2 contrasting colors for the colorwork section.

    US 1 (2.25mm) 32” circular, dpns, or preferred sock needles AND US 2 (2.75mm)/US 3 (3.25mm) 32” circular, dpns, or one to two sizes larger than your typical needle size for the colorwork on the leg.

    75 size #6 or 6/0 glass beads
    1.00mm crochet hook for threading beads
